Back in March, [livejournal.com profile] schemingreader wrote More To Me, a very nice Tony/Steve fic in which Tony is kidnapped and the following exchange occurs:

"Who took him?"

"Advanced Idea Mechanics."

"How do you know?"
"They tweeted it."

I wrote 90% of this very silly crack piece in response and then... didn't finish it or post it anywhere. But now I have! #IronManKidnapping, in which AIM kidnap Tony, and decide to livetweet it.

An excerpt:

A.I.M: LOL WE JUST KIDNAPPED @I_AM_IRONMAN! #winning

BlackWidow: @A.I.M Do you really see this ending well for you?

A.I.M: YOU’LL NEVER FIND US AVENGE-DURRS!!!!!! #muahaha #IronManKidnapping

A.I.M: SOON @I_AM_IRONMAN WILL BE ONE OF US!!!!!!! #IronManKidnapping

BlackWidow: @A.I.M Why are you using his Twitter handle?

BlackWidow: @A.I.M Why are you tweeting at your kidnap victim?

(My fic is Gen with background Pepper/Tony, not Tony/Steve. I love 616!Tony/Steve, and read quite a lot of MCU!Tony/Steve because there's more of it. But for myself, I cannot bear to split MCU!Tony/Pepper up.)

Sorry! I wanted to post this immediately but I had to go and be in a meeting type thing for an hour.

Summary:
After three terrible years, even Holmes doesn''t expect Watson to accept him back from the dead quite that readily. And neither of them expect the shocking affair of the Dutch steam ship Friesland, which so nearly costs them both their lives...

Pairings: Mary/Watson, Holmes/Watson.
Warnings: Terminal illness (tuberculosis), eventual political violence, flashbacky non-linear timeline shenanigans, but above all, ANGST.
A/N: Everyone has to tackle the marriage and the hiatus sometime. Hereis my bash at it.

Happy Easter! Here, at last, is some more fic -- bloody loads of it, actually. I'm going to post it in two chunks, because there's no way LJ's going to let me do it as one, at least not easily, and I'm not feeling up to fighting LJ.

I've been dithering like mad about whether or not to do this, but really, I have no excuse. All that whining about being busy I do? I am now not busy. At all. I have finished everything I have been doing for the last eight years. Everything. No, really. I am utterly without obligations.

So of course I should bleeding well write a story for Help Japan if anyone wants one. My offer thread is here.

In other news, my latest story is here should you have missed it. And I want to thank the various people who pointed out mistakes -- there were rather a lot, many of them just typos and thus my fault, but several caused by LJ hating me and wanting to chew up my stories with its iron teeth. There was a whole bit about people following a certain wandering, allegedly-dead genius that was just gone. I sincerely hope they're all fixed now.

I have more things to talk about, but they deserve a post of their own, so I'll do that later.

 Author's Notes

I really can't overstate my incredulity at how long this has taken (or just how long it IS , I thought it might be a FICLET, HA. ) but here I am back at last and this... this technically isn't the next part of Antidote to Sorrow. (3rd person POV and present tense ZOMG!) But! Although this is a freestander, and can be read without any reference to Antidote, it still is part of the same story. I saw this prompt on the meme and was all, “Oooh... that could be that thing that happens in the backstory -- maybe it would be nice if we see that happen, instead of just having people talk about it later...”)

So. If you are reading Antidote to Sorrow, events herein are taking place between chapters 1 and 2 and if not... everything should be self-explanatory.

Summary: A tall, thin, grey-eyed foreigner, running for his life.
Warnings: Drugs, self-inflicted gruesomeness.
Canon stories: DYIN, FINA, EMPT

6,700 words.

I need to reply to some truly wonderful comments from some marvellous people, and I will, but I am going to post this now, in the hope that [livejournal.com profile] wordstrings may perhaps be as freaked out as I was by a weird coincidence. Also, go and read her fic (like you weren't going to anyway.)

Random irruptions of horribleness keep happening over last few days. Upset. So here, have a little nugget of crack. It seemed the logical thing to do.

A sad and lonely person moves from a hot, sandy place to a cold, overcast place, and becomes obsessed with a very pale and mysterious stranger.

[Might do a bit more -- would have liked to get to "I know what you are!" etc.

If'd I'd had the slightest idea how long I'd be writing this I'd never have got started... and so for many, many complicated reasons, I'm glad I didn't.

[livejournal.com profile] katieforsythe will know which bit is for her.

Thanks so much to everyone who's encouraged me along the way.

I finished my projects! Well, sort of. Well, I've got to the end of each of them and yes I need to go back and fix various remaining problems BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO THINK ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW. What matters right now is that what ELSE is finished is the penultimate chapter of this monster.

FIC DUMP!  More Winter in London is here and here.  But, if you haven't already seen it on the meme, here is this quick little retirement-era fic I wrote to "fix" The Lion's Mane.

850 words. PG as anything.

"At this period of my life the good Watson had passed almost beyond my ken. An occasional week-end visit was the most that I ever saw of him. Thus I must act as my own chronicler. Ah! had he but been with me, how much he might have made of so wonderful a happening and of my eventual triumph against every difficulty! As it is, however, I must needs tell my tale in my own plain way, showing by my words each step upon the difficult road which lay before me as I searched for the mystery of the Lion’s Mane"

A.N I am seriously hoping I might be able to post the next bit later tonight. And I hope so, because I've been looking forward to it for ages. But then I've been all "TODAY is going to be the day!"   for WEEKS now, so... to be going on with, while I cook/ wash up, anyway:

Edit:Soooo close! But I'm passing out here. And I owe a lot of replies to comments, too. A demain!

The Adventure of the Dying Detective AU. For [livejournal.com profile] ingridmatthews ' prompt - "I read the AU where Watson gets poisoned. I now want to read the one where Watson DIES because Holmes is a drama queen."
Warnings: Well, see prompt. It's evil and horrible and you don't want to read it! But at least it's short.
