Oh, but how wonderful! Reflexive, elegiac almost, and the narration handed back to Watson - SO lovely. (And faultless French to go with the faultless Victorian prose - that's perhaps the most charming of it all, since most published contemporary writers seem entirely unable to construe the simplest sentence.) Wonderful Holmes; wonderful Watson - I'm glad you are thinking of sometime starting another Holmesfic - surely it can't be a sequel to this perfectly rounded tale; but I trust you to recreate another Doylean iteration.
